Dr. Debra Barnes
Dr. Barnes is originally from North Carolina and graduated from Southern College of Optometry. She was an active duty Air Force Optometrist from 1978 to 1985 and then became an active reserve optometrist and attained the rank of Major. After being recalled to active duty in Desert Storm, she decided civilian optometry and family was enough. Dr. Barnes has practiced in Texas since 1985 and opened the Garden Ridge / Schertz Vision Source in 2000. The office relocated to Schertz on Interstate 35 in 2003 and moved into a larger office within the same center in early December 2008. Dr. Barnes is an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist, which means she treats eye diseases along with glaucoma, and itchy, red, irritated eyes. Dr. Barnes is active at Community Bible Church, is a member of Bexar County Optometric Society and the American Optometric Society. She has two children: Christopher is studying nuclear engineering at Texas A&M, and Kimberly who is a Junior in High School.

Dr. Michelle Buttlar
Dr. Buttlar graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry, where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. Prior to optometry school, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of North Texas. She is currently the President of the Bexar County Optometric Society and a member of the Texas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. |

Dr. Billy Nowlin
Dr. Nowlin owned Area Eye Center-Vision Source for 30 years in Perryton, Texas. He and his wife Karen, moved to New Braunfels to be closer to their four daughters and one grandchild. Karen is a retired Math Specialist with the Seguin Independent School District. Dr. Nowlin enjoys working part-time with Schertz Vision Source so that he has time to enjoy his golf habit. Dr. Nowlin and Karen are active members of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Braunfels. His many years of experience and friendly manner will give even the most reluctant patient a thorough and relaxing eye exam.
